GIS software

A Geographic Information System (GIS) is a useful tool for displaying, questioning, interpreting and analysing data.

GIS can help you tell the story, reveal data correlations, patterns and trends, and portray a visual picture that supports the communication of your research and teaching.

CartoGIS Services can visualise and analyse your data using GIS.

We use ArcGIS to compile maps from datasets we hold (such as coastlines, boundaries, rivers, city locations and relief information). We add your research data (such as geographical coordinates you have brought back from the field, vegetation, population or electoral data) and with GIS we edit, analyse, question and interpret the data to find patterns and relationships. We can then make a professional-looking map or diagram tailored to your needs.
